While my media news source, The Drum, says that this advert will be launched December 5th, I’ve just seen it on More4 during Come Dine With Me’s ad-break. It’s definitely the 4th, my advent calender says so.
Created by AMV BBDO – the marketing geniuses behind the Twinings Infusions Waterfall, and the Birds Eye Peas Polar Bear adverts – the advert follow the tone previously set by the series of Famous Grouse ads, the perfect balance of humour and the “buy me” message. I’ve also noticed that the start of the Grouse theme sounds eerily like Deck the Halls, a connection I’m sure AMV BBDO are playing upon due to its December release.
The new direction really serves to empower the presence of the Black Grouse on the shelves. As a percentage of every bottle sold goes towards the conservation of the bird – and it boasts a far smokier flavor than the original Famous Grouse – It’s a move well made. Vital conservation work gets further funding, and more people will try a whiskey they otherwise might not have.
